Carestream Health’s Molecular Imaging Systems division
announced the release of KODAK X-SIGHT Imaging Agent Antibody Conjugates for in
vitro imaging applications. This product is an extension of previously released KODAK
X-SIGHT Imaging Agents for in vivo applications⎯novel, organic fluorescent
nanoparticles that leverage Kodak’s 50 years of dye chemistry and nanotechnology
expertise.

Customers will now have a superior imaging agent solution for both in vitro and in
vivo applications. The KODAK X-SIGHT Imaging Agent Antibody Conjugates will be
displayed at the 107th General Meeting of The American Society of Microbiology in
Toronto, Canada occurring on May 21 - 25, 2007.
KODAK X-SIGHT Antibody Conjugates are ideal for western blotting
applications, which use gel electrophoresis to separate proteins from a sample of cell or
tissue based on molecular weight and size. Once the proteins are separated, a primary
antibody will target the specific protein of interest. The KODAK X-SIGHT Antibody
Conjugates will attach to the primary antibody and illuminate when excited by the
appropriate wavelength of fluorescent light, thus allowing researchers to visualize and
quantify the protein under investigation.
Due to their superior brightness, KODAK X-SIGHT Antibody Conjugates will
allow researchers to achieve higher levels of sensitivity that will lead to the detection of
smaller amounts of proteins. Because they are uniquely designed to be biocompatible
and non-toxic, they provide an incredibly bright and robust platform for translating
molecular imaging experiments from in vitro to in vivo applications.
“The continuous introduction of novel KODAK X-SIGHT Imaging Agents is a sign of
our commitment towards offering our customers a complete solution for their imaging
needs. We are very excited about this proprietary product line with its demonstrated
significant improvements in protein detection and other in vitro applications over existing
available products.” commented Shahram Hejazi, PhD, President of Carestream
Health’s Molecular Imaging Systems division.
KODAK X-SIGHT Imaging Agent Antibody Conjugates are available conjugated
to a variety of secondary antibodies in four distinct excitation and emission wavelengths
spanning just above UV to near IR, making them ideal for multiplex detection of proteins.
To minimize cross reactivity, the secondary antibodies have been affinity purified and
are highly cross-absorbed. KODAK X-SIGHT Imaging Agent Antibody Conjugates offer
superior brightness, higher sensitivity and excellent signal to noise results when
compared to other commercially available conjugates. While the KODAK X-SIGHT
Imaging Agent Antibody Conjugates have been optimized for KODAK Image Station
Systems, they are also compatible with other commercially available digital imaging
systems.
Together with KODAK Image Station Systems, the KODAK X-SIGHT Imaging Agent
product line further expands the breadth of leading edge solutions offered from
Carestream Health to the medical research community to accelerate life science and
drug discovery research.
KODAK X-SIGHT Imaging Agent Antibody Conjugates are currently available for
preclinical use worldwide. Carestream Health further plans to introduce additional
imaging agents throughout the year, under the Kodak brand.
