At ASCB 2007, Carestream Molecular Imaging will be demonstrating a variety of KODAK branded optical molecular imaging systems ranging from basic gel documentation, to multimodal small animal in vivo imaging. All systems are operated using KODAK Molecular Imaging Software, providing high performance image analysis optimized for both PC and the Macintosh OSX operating system.

Additionally, capabilities from the recently announced KODAK Digital X-ray Specimen (DXS) 4000 imaging platform will be available for demonstration. The system produces high-resolution radiographs of medical, life science and material science research specimens—ideal for applications in areas such as pathology, forensics, agricultural, marine biology and forestry research. With exceptional resolution of up to 25 line pairs per millimeter without geometric magnification, the system offers the highest resolution available for digital specimen radiography.

“We are setting new standards in innovation and affordability with the KODAK Digital X-Ray Specimen Systems,” said Shahram Hejazi, PhD, President of Carestream Molecular Imaging. “As evidenced by this and other new product introductions and market entries in 2007, Carestream Molecular Imaging is focused on delivering complete solutions for early disease detection and drug discovery research. Our customers can expect the same high levels of quality, innovation, and value that they have come to appreciate from KODAK branded molecular imaging solutions.”

Carestream Molecular Imaging was formed in May of 2007 when Eastman Kodak Company’s Health Group was acquired and renamed Carestream Health, Inc. The company offers bio-imaging systems designed for a wide range of applications including DNA gel, western blot, fluorescent and multi-wavelength fluorescent, small animal (in vivo), radioisotopic, and x-ray specimen imaging applications.

Carestream Health, an independent company, has licensed the KODAK brand for use with its own brands across its portfolio of leading-edge molecular imaging, medical imaging and healthcare IT products.
